The film released with the publicity campaign based on Karthi, Surya’s brother. Well, if you are not ready to go the theatres expecting it to be a ‘beginner’s image making film’, you are missing one of the versatile film in recent time. The film is versatile not because of its story but of its treatment to the story, frames, fantastic editing and more importantly strong characterization, full marks to director, Ameer
The story is happening in a ‘chandiyar’ village. The director cleverly uses the flash backs and the dramatic childhood love scenes to make the frames attractive. Our hero is an inborn courageous fellow who saves the life of the heroine and the story doesn’t give away any chance for predicting the next scene. The first half lacks some pace but it includes some cleverly picturised songs. The film is basically a love story but said in a three dimensional way, cleverly mixing up the character portrait of ‘Paruthiveeran’, his love and the chandiyar society. Unlike her other films where she resembled as a tannic body, Priyamani did a fair job in the film.
The most important thing is that neither of the new comers are looking new to the celluloid and Karthi did a superb job for the lead role. You will find a little bid difficulty in understanding the colloquial Tamil but the frames will tell you the story. The back ground score and the music is average while the superb script and directors cut makes the film good.
The film is a tragedy and you can witness a terrific climax which will haunt you even after leaving the theatres. You can find a rude paruthiveeran, a beautiful but bold Priyamani and the paddy fields of internal Tamil Nadu. If you love positive deviations in films, you should book a ticket for the next show.
Trade Verdict: Super Hit
Ranking: Must See
